Government relations and coalition building to improve market access, streamline procurement, and accelerate adoption of health technologies across the NHS.

The partnership

The Health Tech Alliance (HTA) is a coalition of more than 30 health technology companies and key NHS bodies, including NHS England, Integrated Care Boards, the Office for Life Sciences, NICE, NIHR, and Health Innovation Networks. Chaired by Dame Barbara Hakin, former Deputy Chief Executive of NHS England, and founded by Nick Lansman, President at Clarity, the Alliance exists to accelerate adoption of proven health technologies, digital applications, devices, and diagnostics across the health service.

Health tech innovators were struggling to secure consistent market access and navigate complex, fragmented procurement routes. At the same time, NHS leaders needed trusted partners to help deliver better patient outcomes and long‑term cost savings. The Alliance’s objective was to create a credible, unified forum that could align these interests, influence policy on market access and reimbursement, and unblock systemic barriers to scaling innovation.

Reducing fragmentation

Clarity acts as the secretariat to the Health Tech Alliance, designing a structured coalition that turns disparate voices into a single, influential platform. Rather than pursuing isolated lobbying efforts, Clarity convened health tech companies and NHS bodies around shared policy priorities on market access, reimbursement, and procurement.

To address procurement barriers, Clarity created a dedicated Procurement Sub‑Group that brings together industry leaders, NHS health bodies, and procurement professionals. This forum enables open discussion of practical constraints, co‑design of realistic solutions, and clear routes for testing and scaling new approaches. By institutionalising regular engagement with stakeholders including the NHS Commercial Directorate, NHS Supply Chain, DHSC, Health Innovation Networks, ICSs, and NHS Trusts, Clarity transformed ad hoc conversations into an ongoing programme of work.
